Jake F Baker – 1941-2019

“My Husband, Jake F Baker, was a Pioneer for many years. I don’t know if he has a current membership or not. He had many telephone friends I would like them to know of his passing. Jake Baker, was born at home in Crusville, New Mexico 10/02/1941 in a logging camp shack with a canvas roof, no power and no water. His mother spoke English, the midwife spoke Spanish. Jake passed 01/20/2019 from heart and lung disease. His phone career started in the US Navy with shipboard communications. After the Navy he went to work for PacBell, Santa Monica, CA then he moved to a small independent company in Idaho. Around 1965 he moved back to the Phoenix area where he went back to work for Mountain Bell. His career went from the old open wire – cord board and crank telephone systems up to fiber-optics. In Phoenix he worked his way from outside plant, cable splicer, residential I&R, to end in commercial sales.” – Barbara Baker
