Dolores “Dody” Kosky
Dody was a much-loved Pioneer and we all will miss her. These are some memories from her Pioneer friends through the years.
I have known Dody since I transferred to Tucson many years ago. My fondest memories are when I was new and the way she made me feel so welcome. She invited me to her table at lunch or just to talk. She made me feel like a longtime friend with her warmth. She just had such a gift of caring. With Dody being ill, I felt delighted and blessed that we shared a hug at our last luncheon. Dody was an executive secretary on the 6th floor at Alameda, where we worked together for years. I remember in the late 70’s the powers that be sent out a directive that secretaries and clerks on the 6th floor could wear a pantsuit instead of dresses or skirts as long as they matched. LOL. She was a great friend then and continued to be one until her death. I will miss her. Louise Rebholz
Adding to Louise’s story, Dody once told me she went home that night and made herself a pantsuit to wear the very next day. What a strong woman! Anna Patton
I met Dody Miley/Kosky in 1970 when I started with MST&T and we became good friends. We worked downtown and parking was hard to come by, so we would park across the tracks and walk through the underpass to the office. She rescued me one morning when someone jumped in my car and tried to assault me. She was parked a few cars down and the guy did not see her until she yelled at him “WHAT THE H___ DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?” Needless to say, she scared him and he ran off. She will be missed. I met Dody in the mid 1970’s when she was an executive secretary and she would call me to pick up technician paychecks to be distributed every other Friday. We became friends and when she retired, we continued that friendship. For a time, Dody and I worked the reception table for Pioneer luncheons, marking the names and taking in the money. Eventually, when Dody stopped driving longer distances, I would pick her up. I miss her, she was a spunky, strong lady, very proud of the five generations of strong ladies in her family. Georgienne Vance
My favorite memory of Dody was her request: “Would you give me a hug to put me back together?” I will miss her. She was a very special person. Mo Ryan
Dody was a kind, loving person, and a dedicated Pioneer. She was an inspiration to us all. Rest in Peace, Dody. Patti Pace
